MARKETING OR BUST!

I worked for a marketing genius once. He was – and is – a guy who refused to be reigned in by rules, and grew a manufacturing company of one from borrowed capital to well over $10 million and 100 plus employees in just a few years. The secret to his success? I think there are two. First, he was out of options; it was a case of succeed or surrender. Secondly, he put marketing in pole position. As he once told me, “I think marketing is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing. Maybe even more important than manufacturing.”

Now he didn't support that sentiment by sending pink slips to the entire QC department, but he did back it up in his marketing budget to great effect. I have since seen firsthand that you can be a first-class manufacturer with a perfect product but no one will know about it if you endorse it with mediocre marketing. Remarkable marketing, on the other hand, makes the difference between ordinary and extraordinary whether it’s a product, service, idea - or even a person.

It may seem extreme, but that kind of 'maximized marketing' will work just as well for you as it did for him!
